Proposed CDC Budget Cuts & ACA Repeal Threaten Future HIV Testing Programs

Senate Health Care Bill is Disastrous for the HIV and STD Community

Today, AIDS United, NASTAD, the National Council of STD Directors, NMAC and The AIDS Institute join together to condemn the inhumane Senate healthcare bill, which will decimate Medicaid, change private insurance reforms that protect people living with or at risk of HIV and/or STDs, and undermines public health infrastructure.

President Trump's FY 2018 Budget Cuts Essential HIV/AIDS, STD Programs

AIDS United, NASTAD, the National Coalition of STD Directors, NMAC and The AIDS Institute join together to oppose the draconian cuts proposed by the Administration including many programs that are essential for the treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS and STDs.   Read the partnership's full press release here.

Trump Budget: A Setback to HIV and Hepatitis Elimination

President Donald Trump’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget proposal includes severe cuts to many HIV and related programs and no increases for hepatitis prevention. In response, The AIDS Institute is calling on the Congress to reject the President’s budget and develop one that addresses the funding needs to prevent, treat, and research infectious diseases such as HIV and hepatitis in the United States.

House of Representatives Pass Bill to Take Away Insurance Coverage for Millions

We joined AIDS United, NASTAD, the National Council of STD Directors, and NMAC to condemn the House of Representatives for passing the American Health Care Act (AHCA). If enacted, the AHCA would take away insurance coverage for millions of Americans and end protections for people with pre-existing conditions. This bill is disastrous for people living with or at risk of HIV and STDs.

Congress Maintains Funding for Most Domestic HIV and Hepatitis Programs

Funding for most domestic HIV/AIDS and hepatitis programs will be maintained in the Fiscal Year 2017 Omnibus Appropriations bill released by House and Senate Appropriators earlier today.  Read our full press release here.
