Letter to Secretary Hillary Clinton: The Importance of Addressing Hepatitis C in the United States

In response to recent comments Democratic presidential nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made regarding hepatitis C (HCV) and the pricing of new curative drugs, The AIDS Institute sent a letter yesterday urging her to prioritize elimination of hepatitis C as a public health threat should she be elected president.

Sign-on Letter in Response to FY2017 Labor HHS Appropriation Bills (S.3040 and H.R.5926)

The AIDS Budget and Appropriations Coalition (ABAC) has drafted an organizational sign-on letter for your consideration. While Congress has proposed to maintain funding for most domestic HIV/AIDS programs in their FY2017 Labor-HHS appropriations bills, they have also proposed serious cuts that, if enacted, will severally impact HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment programs in the U.S.

House Maintains Funding Levels for HIV and Hepatitis Programs

The House Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee approved its Fiscal Year 2017 funding bill on July 7th that maintains funding for domestic HIV programs. However, the bill includes several extreme partisan cuts to critical programs that impact people with HIV and help reduce new infections, including the Affordable Care Act and sexual health programs. The bill also provides no increases for hepatitis prevention programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
